Black specs that appear on laundry when coming out of washing machine

I have a top loading LG washer. It is only a few years old. it is the kind with no agitator. There are small black bits of smear-able substance, almost greasy in nature when the wash is finished. I’ve investigated this, including calling the manufacturer. The best information I got was using a tub wash. I did that but the problem keep coming back after one week or so. There is no filter port on the front. Moving the washer is difficult due to space to look in the back. So, before that effort - maybe someone else has experience with this?

The dark spots are a result of re-deposits of dirt and oil removed and put into suspension by the detergent, then precipitated out. This is made worse by insufficient detergent, by cooling, and by soaking periods where the temperature drops and oily precipitates form on surfaces.

This can also be cause by a failing transmission.

So, do I wash in warmer temperatures/add more detergent? Is there a trouble shoot for the transmission - hopefully I bought the extended warranty and can make a warranty claim.

I would first take a paper towel and run it around the inside of the tub and see if it is picking up residual crud. Next I would make sure it is really clean and the filter is clean. The following video has lots of good ideas on doing this:

I'm having the same problem with my LG washer. I keep finding black dirt,greasy pieces on my clothes. I wipe it clean all the time. I used vinegar and water on a rag to wipe clean around the top,inside the tub,and every where. Also ran through cleaning cycle. I still have pieces of dirt on my clothes. Don't know what to do. Any body have any solutions. I did watch the video on cleaning my machine and tried that, no solution yet.

I find the only time I do not get this black gunk is to wash using the NORMAL cycle only. Will never ever buy another LG anything. #disgusted

I had similar problem of black flex. When I changed washing machine position. The drain pipe was higher than the washing drum bottom. I tried cleaning number of times but no luck. I then realized earlier position of drain pipe out let was much lower. I did the modification to plumbing and brought the outlet pipe much lower than drum bottom. This solved my problem 100%
