How to replace power flex strip?

Long story short... My iPad 2 digitizer shattered. I ordered a new digitizer, but managed to rip the volume / power flex strip while removing the original glass.

I researched the flex strip online and noticed that it will cost about $25 to have it shipped. My iPad is at my parent's house (five hours away from me), where my dad and I were repairing it together. He mentioned that he's skeptical about how hard it might be to replace the flex strip.

Does anyone have a guide for replacing this volume & power strip?
