Power switch seems faulty?

Our Hoover wind tunnel upright (UH72400) is having intermittent issues with the power button.

It started with the vacuum not powering off when the button was pressed. I managed to finally get to turn off with a firm sharp press with the palm of my hand (all other variations of presses didn’t work). Then the vacuum wouldn’t stay on after pressing the button. As long as the button was depressed the vacuum would run, but as soon as you release it shuts off. Again, a sharp and firm press with the palm of my hand engages the power and it will remain on until another sharp, firm press turns it off.

while this method allows us to operate the vacuum it can’t be good for the device, I’m thinking the internal switch may be going bad? Is this something I can get into and replace?
