All lights flashing even after battery replacement w/lens open

The lights by the lens all flash and the viewfinder red light turns on and stays on when I try to take a photo. I have tried replacing the batteries with the lens open, and have also tried putting in a new pack of film, neither of which has solved the problem. Please help!
