My 5 year old Vizio tv takes 3 or 4 times before picture comes on.

@massbayguy since “Sound is always present when turned on” but not the screen, it is possible that your power board which supplies the voltage for the backlight, is the cause. Measure the output voltages from the power board to the mainboard and see what those voltages are. After that, measure the voltages to the LED’s to make sure that those are stable. Ultimately, it sounds like your power board is starting to fail. It is not a terrible complicated job to replace those and may just keep your TV around for another 5 years. It’ll save you money in the long run and keeps your TV from becoming eWaste. Let us know the exact model for your TV so we can try to do a bit more troubleshooting.
