Phone severely cracked and fell in water. Won't turn on

My iPhone 6s had a severely cracked screen and it fell in a tub of water. I instantly took it out and externally dried it. It was still turning on the first few hours but was definitely not in good condition. I could see the water inside. The screen became completely unresponsive to touch and a blue hue was bleeding through one side of the screen which if im correct was caused by the lcd screen being damaged? I dont have this phone properly backed up and i need the data.

The phone completely went black afterwards. Its been almost 4 days since the water incident. At first it was still making vibrations giving me a sign that the phone was running but the screen was not. But then all of it stopped. As of now I could still charge the phone as it still makes a vibration every time a charger is plugged in but it wont turn on. Due to it being submerged in water the speakers were also damaged and the camera lens was kinda blurry. I was hoping the issues were only lcd deep but i am definitely no less than clueless what the actual problem could be.. Biggest fear is that there is a problem with the motherboard. Id be eternally grateful for any response/help. I really need the data. If you also know a trust worthy repair company in japan that could help me with this, please let me know.

@milkbread all of this “externally dried it. It was still turning on the first few hours but was definitely not in good condition. I could see the water inside” makes a bad situation much worse.

The very first thing is for you to stop continuing to try to charge, sync or otherwise use your phone. This potentially can make a bad situation worse. This may further damage your phone.

The next thing to do is to clean it. Disassemble your phone using these guides . You must remove all EMI shields. If you do not remove those, you might as well not do anything. After you removed those, clean the whole board, connectors and all with +90% isopropyl alcohol. Follow this guide , and even so it was written for a 3G all the points are still pertinent to your phone. While you clean your board, check for any obvious damage, like burned or missing components etc. When it is properly cleaned, replace the battery. All these steps are to avoid delayed failure caused by corrosion. Best thing to do would be to clean it with an ultrasonic cleaner, but if you do not have access to one, this will at least help. Once all this is done, reassemble your phone with a new battery and a new display assembly and reevaluate. Until it is cleaned, everything will only be a guess. Even with all this, water damage has only a small chance to be fully repaired, but at least you can give it a try.
