Is it possible to replace the 2012 Macbook Pro (9,2) A1278 2.5 GHz i5 logic board with the 2.9 GHz i7 version of the logic board?
I’m about to order the 2.9 GHz board to upgrade the performance of the MacBook Pro, Thank you.

Sure you can swap out the logic boards between the two versions this series had MacBook Pro 13" Unibody (Mid 2012) 2.9 GHz Logic Board and here’s the guide MacBook Pro (13 Zoll, Mitte 2012, Unibody) Logic Board Austausch
You should also look at maxing the RAM to 16 GB and also look at upgrading the HDD to a SSD. If you do that make sure you replace the HD SATA cable with a new one at the same time.

@kilent - The ability to swap is related to the ID not the Model
So lets look at the ID's, I'm assuming you have a 2010 system as thats the last Core 2 Duo:
The major parts are not interchangeable between these to systems.
