MacBook Air model A1932 screen display not showing due to drop

I have a MacBook Air model A1932 that I dropped, and the display is no longer showing properly. The glass isn’t broken, is it possible to repair it without buying a whole new screen?

Let's check things here, you'll need to connect an external monitor to your system to see if its just the display or something deeper.

That's exactly what I was planning on doing, but wasn't sure if it was possible to connect to my laptop, as my hdmi ports on my television are busted. I am new to MacBooks, and want to learn, as I have been in the IT field for years, and have worked on iPhones since they were invented......but MacBooks are a whole new world for me. I just need some guidance, as I am self taught for pretty much anything Apple related. I was going to run a hardware diagnostics test, if the software was on the device already. I am not sure, as this was given to me by a family member, after she broke it, and of course her workplace removed it from the MDM and allowed her to keep it.

If we can’t test the system using an external display (your TV’s HDMI ports are broken) then we will just need to trust faith here.

Here’s the part you need: MacBook Air 13" (Late 2018-Early 2020) Display Assembly, Apple P/N 661-09735

Sadly we don’t have a guide to put it in, all we have is the MacBook Air 13" Retina 2018 Teardown

I think you’ll find this is too complex a project for a first timer. I really think you’ll need to find someone to help you locally or just ship it off to Apple for repairs.

Although I appreciate your concern, I might not have been clear, I have been in the field for over 10 years, and I actually have started the teardown, it's my first new model, and I have done multiple screen replacements on touch screen laptops, without any assistance, and self taught how to replace pretty much every module, including the screens on all iPhone models, so I think that I can handle it. I appreciate the part no. information. I am going to assume that you are an experienced MacBook tech, and I really just need someone to walk me through things that I don't fully understand or get stuck on, as the only way I will learn is to do it myself. This was given to me, so I won't be losing any money, persay, unless I screw up the screen, but I am going to be positive here, and hope for the best, and looking for pretty much a mentor to assist. :-)

I'm sorry if I misjudged you. You came off as being someone that was not experienced.

I'll be honest with you I've only done two of these newer MacBook Airs I needed to replace the the trackpad and clean some liquid spill in the other.

But, it was clear the displays design was based on the same themes in the newer MacBook & MacBook Pro's. And I've done quite a few of these.

I've given you what I can, take your time, and if you want to help others how about documenting the process into a guide https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/new

Awesome! Thanks, Dan......ifixit is definitely my go to for everything, it’s where I learned pretty much everything I know! My biggest issue is fear of making a mistake that’s not repairable.....so I stall, then finally I make the attempt and it is usually simple and I made a big deal for nothing, lol. This may sound stupid, but do you think it could be as simple as replacing the display shortflex connector cable?

@iphonefanatik - Sadly no, the LCD and the T-CON board have become damaged. Unlike the MacBook Pro 2015 and older which had a single cable from the logic board to the T-CON within the display, Apple placed the T-Con within the main case and then ran a bunch of ribbon cables to the LCD display. Which is why this is a more sensitive setup.

von

Apple loves making it difficult to repair their devices. Do you think it’s going to be more cost effective to repair the screen, or possibly find a parts only, same model, and swap out the logic board?
