After buying a new battery my Mac doesn’t want to turn on

I bought a new battery because the old worked only for 1 hour and capacity 65%. After the replacement I made PVRAM and SMC reset. Mac does not want to start without a charger. I turn on the charger and after that it works well, it shows that it is charging. When I turn off the charger at restart it comes to chime and turns off again. Also don't wake up from sleep mode. I restored the old battery and everything works perfectly. Is the new battery defective?

After I completely discharged the battery, I charged it all night (12 hours). Two times.

I give up because the situation remains the same, starting the device is not possible without a charger. I definitely returned the old battery and now everything works, only the autonomy is 1 hour.

What is the color of the MagSafe chargers LED Amber or Green?

The CoconutBattery output shows me the battery is OK, but the charger is not charging it. Lets make sure the charger is connected and is charging.

I would inspect the MagSafe connections following this guide: Apple Portables: Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters

It's also possible the charger you have is a knockoff which has damaged your logic board.

The charger charges correctly, he is original, undamaged, Amber lights up when charging, glows green when charged. So it was with the old battery. Coconout show's charging with 19,78 Wats.

@abajo - I see Discharging at 20.79 Watts here. Not Charging!

The Power adapter is not connected.

That was when the charger was not plugged in.

@abajo - Now let it charge for a good eight hours, then test things again the battery at that point should be fully charged.

So, with the old battery, everything is what it was before you installed the new battery, right?

Yeah, it looks like the new battery is bad. I would return it and ask for a new one.

No the battery is not bad, the battery is just not being charged per CoconutBattery output.

You just jumped the gun as we just didn't have enough info to see where things were going. Thats why I stay with comments in the OP's post digging a bit more info before answering.

Most likely a bad battery, if it’s from ifixit, you can see about getting a new one from warranty

There’s two elements here: The charger and the charging logic within your system. Sadly, I suspect you’ve got issues with both.

The logic inside your system alters the power from the charger or the battery to the computer part of your logic board it uses a comparator to measure the voltage so if the battery is not at the correct voltage it will used the AC power if available if not it will go into sleep mode.

So your logic board does need repairs! But why it failed gets into being damaged by using the wrong charger or using a knockoff which damages the comparator logic and SMC.

So the first thing is to make sure you are using the correct MagSafe charger for your system. This is the one you need Apple 85W MagSafe Power Adapter (for 15- and 17-inch MacBook Pro)

Sadly, the knockoffs look like the Apple units! So just looking at it won’t tell you. The only way I know for sure is to weight of the units, the heaver one is the real one!

All the above facts are known to me.

The adapter is original, 85W. The MacBook was bought new and I had it from the beginning. I know the problem is solely in the battery.

How do you explain that after installing the old battery, everything works perfectly?

The voltages levels. An older battery will have a lower voltage, the new battery will be higher. As I stated the comparator logic is confused so a fresh battery it telling it its charged when its not! The older battery is telling the comparator its only slightly charged and then its thinks its charged prematurely! Which is why you don't get the full charge of the battery for either!

While still a bit different the logic is very similar Macbook Pro Retina works off battery but doesn't charge 820-3462

Yes! I fully understand that.

Sometimes what you see based on what you tested it not truthful, as in this case.

How the system measures power from a source is messing you up. A old batt, new batt and AC,

As the old batt appears to work for a short duration and the new batt does not work at all (needing to be plugged in to work).

So in your mind it's a bad battery! I get that! But, if we look at the logic inside your system the way it works is whats messing you up!

I think the best thing you can do is find someone local to you who can fix your system.
