Why am I not getting an output?

My computer was working fine. It's been just 2 days since I built it. Everything turns on but the LEDs of the top fans don't light up and the RGB of the wraith spire cooler doesn't turn on. Also there's no output on my monitor. Kindly help at the soonest time possible. Also when I disconnected my CPU power cable the light on my wraith prism cooler starts to glow up.

Hi,

More information is needed to help you.

What is the make and model number of the motherboard, make and model number of the PSU?

Does the motherboard have onboard graphics that you can try if the monitor is connected to a GPU card?

What is the make and model number of the GPU card if there is one installed?

Is the computer booting into the operating system i.e. does the HDD/SSD activity light turn on, blink etc?

Have you tried another monitor if possible?

What have you checked?

von

The motherboard is Gigabyte B450M Aorus Elite and the SSD/HDD activity light doesn't turn on. I've tried with another monitor and stuff's the same. The GPU is Galax Geforce RTX 2060 6GB.

von

The PSU is CoolerMaster MWE Gold 750W

von

There was no beep from the motherboard.

von

It's either a faulty PSU, CPU or motherboard from what it sounds like judging that having the 8-Pin EPS CPU power connector disconnected lets the motherboard turn on.

Have you checked to make sure the power cables going to GPU and motherboard from the power supply are seated in fully?

I also recommend try clearing the CMOS. You can refer to the motherboard user manual found in the motherboard box packaging on how to do so.

Reseat the Ram modules as well (try only one as well on motherboard) and try other slots to rule out a bad slot or individual ram stick.

Once you have exhausted all troubleshooting options last resort is to do RMA for below:

It's rare for the CPU to go faulty so I would say RMA the motherboard first for warranty return to retailer / seller as I suspect that may be faulty and if that does not work next would be RMAing the power supply.

Hi,

It appears that the computer is not passing POST (Power On Self Test).

Try connecting a system speaker to the motherboard and then check what the beep error code is when trying to start the computer.

Here’s a composite image of where to connect the speaker, taken from the user manual and what a suitable one may look like.

.

Here’s a list of what the various beep error codes mean.

Is there any alternative way for this ? Because I don't have a system speaker.

von

@Aditya D S

Not that I know of that doesn't involve more gear e.g. POST card

If the system is not starting this is the easiest way to find out why not.

Try reseating the RAM and check if that works. Do this with the power disconnected of course.

If you have a DMM (digital multimeter) you can test the PSU using the paper clip test to check if the PSU's voltage outputs are OK

I checked using the soundcard. There was no beep.

von

@Aditya D S

Just curious how you connected a sound card to the system speaker pins?

If you plugged the sound card into a PCI clot then it won't work until the computer has passed POST and booted into the OS.

The BIOS sends the beep codes to the system speaker pins only.

von

No there's no sound card connected to my Pci-e slot.

Hi there,

Do the fans work just not the leds on them? If so, it may be simply be that the leds are faulty or not properly connected.

For the no signal issue, remove the gfx card plug the video cable into the on board graphics port and see if you get display. If you get a picture then shut down again and reinstall the card, install the power connectors to the card.

If you have a multi meter you can measure the voltage on the 12v connectors, one of the rails may be faulty.

If it still does not work then it is likely the motherboard is faulty and cannot distribute the power that is required.
