How can I replace the butterfly switch on 2019 13 inch model

Hey everyone,

I recently tried taking off the right cmd key because of debris stuck under it. I ended up breaking one of the hinges on the white butterfly switch and ordered a replacement key that includes a new switch and dome.

Problem is, I couldn’t find a guide or video for my model in particular (hard to replace the switch when there is a nylon cover over the switch).

Would appreciate hearing about other success with replacing keys on the 2019 13 inch MBP.

Sadly, Apples efforts to fix the butterfly failures with the membrane makes repairing it harder!

This reminds me of a good mind puzzle: Why are man hole covers round? The lid can’t fall through, unlike a square or rectangle or oval cover! This is the plight you have here! Fighting with the membrane to sneak the part through.

I threw the towel in on trying to fix butterfly keyboards since Apple offers a free repair program! Keyboard Service Program for MacBook, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro

Hopefully, you haven’t marred up the area too badly, I would find my way to an Apple Store and let them fix it. If you’ve marked up the area that could cost you! At that point undoing Apple membrane maybe the only answer but that then makes your systems keyboard more exposed.
