Without any warning my 2017 MacBook Pro started displaying 6 vertical bars with flicking horizontal lines within each bar. Thought Apply makes quality products.

Without warning? What is it supposed to you, send you a red flag?
Looks like your mid update, is it possible it has something do with that?
Defiantly an odd issue.
