Why are colored lines running down my screen?
For about a year I've dealt with my Macbook having a screen issue. The screen area appears to be divided into 6 equal rectangular areas running up and down the screen. Occasionally the screen will start to flicker colors, making it a major nuisance on the screen, but not unuseable.
Up and down each rectangular area will be a bunch of flickering colored lines. It seems to come and go at random, though lighter colors are less of an issue on darker colors. On this website, which is white, there is no issue, but if I switch to a tab with Youtube, which has a dark bacground, it flickers right now.
I took it to a guy who repairs apple and he said I probably have to send it into Apple and they'll charge like $500 to fix it.
I've been watching a bunch of fixing videos on Youtube and now I'm wondering if this isn't something that I can try to fix myself.
Any help would be appreciated. Namaste.

Ist dies eine gute Frage?
@jplot002 - The question remains... What does the external display look like? Is it the same as your internal which you've posted here??
If so they the logic board has failed If the external display is clean then your internal display needs to be replaced as the T-CON logic within it has failed.

Ok thanks. The HDMI cable i ordered on Amazon will be here tomorrow and I'll update. But it sounds pretty conclusive from what you're saying. If it works normally on the external screen I need to replace the internal dispplay.

@jplot002 - Yes!
It's either A the internal display assembly or B the logic board.
Until you have an external display connected you just don't know.

Now, when we're talking about internal display, are we talking about this piece of hardware?
MacBook Pro 13" Retina (Late 2016-2017) Display Assembly
Cause $@$*, if it's $500 for the piece, and the repair guy is charging $500, I'll just let him do it.

@jplot002 - I assume you checked things so the internal display is bad.
Did you review the guide I posted? While the part is expensive its not overly hard to replace as long as you are gentle! trending $500 for labor is a bit much! I was charging about $100 when I was doing it.
In any case don't forget to score the answers and accept one of them, as you've got what you need here. Good Luck!
