No, it can’t. I spoke to a dev from Steelseries and they told me that they also have the same issue on their own base station at home. It’s due to the fact it’s an OLED and the brightness was too high for too long and unfortunately it’s not repairable, unless you buy a new one. I hope it’s not too bad that you can continue using it and try to ignore it but…. unfortunately that’s all i was told. Nothing they can do.

Unfortunately, you're unable to buy just the base station so here I am with the Matrix on my screen and I'm past warranty but only 2.5 years into owning something which should be a replaceable product given its importance to the headset's use.

Also for the future try turning on screensaver so that it isn’t one static image which may help to avoid burn in.

It's maddening to me that this isn't the default setting. I never thought to even look for a screensaver setting until AFTER the burn-in happened.

Display Vision have a set of different OLED screens, can get them from Elfa Distrelec.

In Euro the price for a 128x64 OLED screen is around 58€.

Did you try to replace the screen? I just saw my screen was also suffering from burn-in and changed the brightness settings to be less bright to reduce the damage.

You could in theory replace the display on this, but I'm not sure if you can just get a new display and put it in. Presumably the display is connected to some hardware/firmware combination that expects this particular display.

So unless Steelseries opened up a spare part shop, where you could buy replacement parts, the official answer is; no. However, you can (probably) buy broken base stations to use for spare parts, depending on what's broken of course.

Here is an image of the screen part, which I guess is glued in some plastic frame thing that sits inside the base station enclosure.

Side note! It's not really too bad to take the base station apart to replace parts in it. Just have to slightly lift the glued rubber base in each corner to find the screws, then carefully loosen the clips. Though be careful, this base station is very clearly not meant to be taken apart with ease, so some of the wires are very short and soldered on to the PCBs.

When you were in there, did you see the possibility to extend the wireless antennas or are they onboard?

Isn't it possible to track who the maker is of the OLED display itself?
I really don't think Steelseries make them themselfs, most likely a third party who builds them.

If it's possible, I should give it a try myself. I actually have gone so far, so I bought extra batteries and an external charger so I can continue to use them. Was able to repair the "wheel" on the headset (wouldn't respond from time to time).

When I get time (working too much right now), I'll try and see if I can do something about it. It still works, and is the greatest headphones I have ever had - can have Optical (PS4), USB (PC) and Bluetooth, and recieve signals from all 3 at the same time..

Oh, and I really need to make a guide how to remove and clean the wheel for volume on the headset!

They most definitely don’t manufacture these OLED panels themselves. I’m fairly sure there are only a few OLED panel manufacturers - though there might be a lot more for smaller screens, but I’m not sure.

Anyway, for fun, I ordered an LCD panel that didn’t require a driver board and had the same flex cable connector just to see if it works. If it does; awesome. If it doesn’t; oh well, it wasn’t expensive and it was a fun experiment.

I ordered it from AliExpress, though there should probably be some available ones other places too, such as Amazon maybe.

Also as for the product itself, I think the price considered (~300USD), it’s not a particularly good headset. Really the only reason I bought them was for the swapable battery feature, which is a must for me.

There are quite a bit of negative things I could say about these, but I’ll leave that for somewhere else.

I took apart the entire headset, every single bit, so could probably create a complete tear down guide on it. Bit headset and base.

@Nozemi did you succeed?

You can find the display on aliexpress for about 4$ now. Just changed mine works perfectly
