Slide To Power Off Unresponsive

So super weird situation. I replaced the display on an iPhone XR, and everything seemed ok, image was good, touch worked all around. Then I noticed something weird, when I would hold the power/volume to shut it off, the touch area on the slider wouldn’t work. Cancel button at the bottom was fine, but not the slider at the top. I cancelled out and went back to the desktop, everything works fine over the entire screen. It seems to only have affected the shut down screen. Every now and then, it will work, but the vast majority of the time it’s dead. It must be hardware related, because it only started happening with the replacement display, but what would cause only one specific screen to lose touch function?

Wouldn't be surprised if apple was messing with unauthorized repairs like this.

Nah I've done a bunch of XRs and never seen this happen before.... It stinks like a software issue, but it happening right after the screen was changed is no coincidence.

@jools1111 its unlikely to fix it, but if you try a hard reset, it might help? otherwise it's probably a bad digitiser

Yeah the timing has me convinced it's the digitizer, but why only on the one screen? It works perfectly otherwise.

5 days ago iOS had a beta update to 14.5. if this xr is on 14.5 it's possible there's a bug in the software itself or a new anti repair feature. Since the digitizer works even where the slide to power off usually appears it's unlikely to be caused by faulty display unless the slider needs 3d touch and the display doesn't support it, which is unlikely the case
