How does one remove a processor to install a lower powered processor?
Is it possible to remove a processor from a logic board and install a lower-powered processor?
My logic board, a 2.8ghz CTO, failed, and I took it in for repairs. When i picked it up, system profiler indicated it was running at 2.66ghz. I suspect the repairer installed a downgraded logic board, but they claim they actually "repair" the logic board, rather than "replace" it. (Here's there word's exactly: "We operate our own logic board repair facility. We identify the specific components on your logic board that were damaged, and we replace those components.").
Is there an explanation for the down-grade beyond them simply installing a downgraded logic board and not owning up? Or is it possible to replace the processor on a logic board without mucking the whole thing up (which means they installed a weaker processor in my case).
Thanks
Ist dies eine gute Frage?

If you still have the original machine serial number compare it with the actual serial number then you'll know if the logic board has been swapped.
