Why isn't alcohol working on the battery adhesive?

I did as the ifixit guide said and put several drops of 91% isopropyl alcohol around the top edge of the battery compartment. Waited a good 5 minutes, used the pick to loosen up the edges as the guide mentioned and put a few more drops on. I tilted it a bit to make the drops go down the compartment and loosen all the adhesive even. Now….. I have applied alcohol and tried to loosen the battery at least 4 times now, giving at least 5 minutes between applications to allow it to soak in, and nothing is happening. It isn’t even budging a bit. I am not sure what I am doing wrong but if ANYONE can help me I would appreciate it. Thank you!
