Why is my battery life inconsistent?

Hi! One day, my Nintendo Switch Lite fell in a *bowl of water*. I grabbed it as fast as I could, and let it dry for a while before turning on again.

Ever since this episode, my Switch’s battery life has been significantly shortened. Sometimes, I can get an hour away from a charger, other times it loses its charge in as little as 20 minutes. It even seems to drain quickly when left unused. What could this issue be? Is it worth trying to replace the battery?
