Why won’t my PS3 Turn on

I tried turning on my console by controller and it wouldn’t turn on. So i thought that was weird and so I pressed the button on the console. I press it and nothing happens. No flashing , beep, green light, fan spinning. The red light is solid. I took the ps3 apart and cleaned out all the dust and I put it back together and it still wont turn on. I tried unplugging it for 20 seconds and even a whole day and nothing. I pressed the button and held it for 20 seconds and nothing at all and only the red light stayed.

What you have is commonly referred to as the Red Light of Death for PS3 consoles. It is caused by the PS3 overheating.

I’ve had this issue before as well and there are tons of guides on how to fix it. My best recommendation to you, if you feel comfortable enough to take it apart, would be to simply replace the thermal paste application on the CPU and GPU inside of the console. Clean off the old thermal paste and apply new then test once the console is put back together to see if it works.

This is the only thing that has worked for me in the past, I’ve tried putting it in the oven or on the grill, and all the other tricks you can find on the internet. But simply replacing the old thermal paste, re-seating everything, and turning it back on worked for me.

I have taken the PS3 apart and the thermal paste is actually still pretty pasty. I have cleaned all the dust out were the fan was. I unplugged everything and plugged everything back together and it still won't turn on.

Sad to say then it most likely got so hot that the CPU/GPU died. You can try some of the more unorthodox methods that you can find on YouTube to see if you can fix it, but if a fresh application of thermal paste and cleaning of the dust didn't fix it, it could be a few other things that are hard to track down.

Sorry I wasn't able to help more.

Go look at the back of the power ship after disassemble it and follow wht this guy did (it didn't help me but try it cus he had the same problem as you )
