Replaced Joycon and it is stuck in one direction

So I ordered a replacement joystick for my left joycon. The first one had about half range motion to the left. I tried calibrating but it would not light up the triangle to continue. iFixit assumed it is defective and sent a replacement. The replacement was worse being stuck due left and not allowing me to calibrate. Is there any other issue that can cause a joycon joystick not to work? Could their be something wrong with the console itself? It works in dock mode no problem with a pro controller. I updated the firmware and tried to calibrate but I cannot proceed due to not being able to light up the triangle to calibrate. Any help would be appreciated.
