Why can't I install Samsung USB drivers?

I’m running Windows 7 and I need the Samsung USB driver for my Samsung phone. When I try to install it starts, then Windows Security says “Windows cant verify the publisher of this driver software” and I have2 options. 1)don’t install or 2) install anyway. I press install anyway and it sits there doing nothing, then a minute later it pops up again. I pressed ‘install anyway’ so many times and it wont install. So if i press don’t install, the loading bar finishes and says the setup was not finished and I cant seem to find a way. Any ideas?

Hi,

Just wondering why you need the USB driver ? Is it for development purposes?

Doesn't Win 7 detect the phone when it is plugged in?

von

@jayeff The phones OS is gone, completely corrupted and I need to re-install it. It can only boot to download mode, and the laptop finds it but fails to install a driver. I need the driver so it can be found in the Odin3 Software, so I can re-install Android.

Did you try this one?

Maybe also try unblocking the driver file in its Properties dialogue box.

Locate the file in the PC and then right click on the file >Properties > General > Advanced security > check unblock box > Apply and then see if it will install

@jayeff It is still popping up. I posted a picture of this popup so you can see what it is. I need to disable this so I can just install this driver.

Or do you know where a digitally signed one is?

What Win 7 version is installed?

To disable it you need to have gpedit.msc so that you can change group policy but this is not available in all versions of Win7. Only Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate versions.

If you have one of the 3 applicable versions then here's a link that may help.

If you have the others then here's a link that may work. It is old and I haven't tried it because I don't have any Win 7 machines anymore.

If this doesn't work you may find some other ways online for how to disable it.

What is the model number of the phone? Have you searched for the Samsung support page for the model and checked if there is a driver there?

@jayeff its running Windows 7 Professional without SP1 because I can't install it. I have tried using gpedit.msc and it still pops up even after restarting, and i have done the Advanced Boot Options my pressing f8 on boot and disabling electronic signing, and it STILL pops up. The driver isn't for a specific phone, its just a driver for Samsung phones.

Hi Maxwell,

I would say your Windows 7, without sp1, is partially broken. I would be very concerned if the sp1 doesn't install. You know if it won't install there is some problem. Not connecting to the phone is probably just the "tip of the iceberg".

* Unless you just want a "band-aid" fix you really should try get the update to sp1 fixed. One way is to download the update as a file and try that.

* You could also try to Repair Windows update:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/trouble...

"Tweaking.com - Windows Repair" is an exellent tool - just remember to run in "Safe Mode". It doesn't require any special knowledge but you must read directions.

Let us know how it goes.

Try another Samsung driver compatible with Win Vista, Win XP etc and try installing it using Compatibility mode - right click on the file > properties > compatibility > and select Vista mode. Hopefully it may work this way
