iPhone with "No Service" after replacing charging port

My phone had issues with the charging port, so I replaced it… However, after making this change, my phone is no longer able to detect my carrier… Everything else is working normally (including my new charging port).

If I reinsert my SIM card I can see my phone carrier for around 10 seconds, then the “No Service” is back. Toggling Airplane mode will always show No Service after searching.

My WiFi is working fine but I’m not able to make calls, text or use my carriers Internet.

Because replacing the charging port in an iPhone 7 involves removing most components from the Phone, I’m assuming something went wrong with the component that is in charge of detecting my carrier while I was taking it out from the iPhone? Sucks to create a new problem after solving another one… :(

What part of the Phone is in charge of dealing with the detection of phone carriers?

Can it be that I may have a loose connection between two components inside my iPhone that could cause this? Or is this right away a phone part that is now broken?

How can I fix it? Is it expensive to fix?

Thank you…

There are two antenna connectors that go from the dock assembly to the logic board. Make sure they are connected properly and maybe replace the dock assembly again. Unless you bent the logic board it couldn’t be anything else if it was working before the repair.

Exactly. Charging port flex cable hosts not only charging port but also GSM antenna and microphone. I just had to solder this antenna cable yesterday.

@imicrosoldering @feline_therian Thanks for the insightful comments!

I went out of my house and my phone was able to detect a phone carrier, and I was able to make phone calls when that happened. But I'm wondering the root cause...

Would this mean that my GSM antenna needs a very strong signal to detect the carrier? (before, I could even have my iPhone literally on the floor in one of my rooms and would detect carriers)

Or can it be that my iPhone is now only using CDMA to detect carriers? (my iPhone is unlocked)

Either way this is clearly an abnormal behavior, the dock assembly may have a faulty GSM antenna. I paid less than 5 USD for it, so it probably was of a very low quality. I honestly was unaware there were more things involved with the dock assembly piece other than the charging port.
