Hi,
you might want to check out the disassembly and see if the scroll wheel assembly is clean and functioning. Proceed to step 9 for a “preview” how it looks on the inside:
Logitech G502 Hero Demontage
In step 10 you can see the scroll click button between the two springs.

Hi! I just ran into the same problem OP was having with this device and upon further inspection, the area where the middle mouse button is pressed down seems to have a dent. The click in the mouse works about 1/4 of the time and there is no firm clicking like before. This damage occurred within the 30 minutes that I left school and made it home. The bag was not treated violently and the mouse has been used normally. Any assistance would be great. Thanks!

Wow Perfect Thank you

I had the same problem. I fix it by pulling the middle mouse botton to above.

Hey guys, I've never commented on one of these before but I found a fix for this on my mouse. The "clicking" is cause by a very small metal plate under the mouse wheel. The tiny metal plate is bowed slightly and when you press into it, it makes the clicking noise and feeling. If it's no longer making that noise it's because something has pressed into it too hard and dented it inward. You have to reform the dent in the metal plate.

What I did was lift the yellow tinged sheet that covers it from one end removed the small circular plate. Then I flipped it over, set it on a soft surface (In my case my mouse pad) and gently press the center of my screw driver into it to reform the warp in the metal. After flipping the plate and putting it back under that small sheet, I then reassembled as normal and now my clicking is back. I hope this helps someone out and saves you from buying a new mouse like I did the first time this happened lol

The scroll wheel can be locked (clicky) and unlocked (freewheeling). Simply press the small square button just behind the wheel itself (marked with a pair of arrows in a circle) to switch between the two modes. Note that the button has needs to be pressed fairly firmly untill it clicks.

That's not what he meant

Fixed it for me!

fixed for me! Thanks!

That doesn't 'fix' anything! The OP clearly meant the middle button is failing to click as 'middle mouse button' to the PC. It is not clicking. This has NOTHING to do with the scroll-style toggle functionality.

The click is likely permanently broken as the switch is just a little plate that probably got dented. It does not look easy to desolder but it might be possible. You can also just remap middle click to another button like one of the ones to the left of left click, personally prefer that over middle click now and the switch will last a lot longer

I'm shocked how little information there is on this online, I ended up ordering an entire new scroll wheel when I didn't realize that was entirely unnecessary, the switch for the middle mouse button is a little copper plate at the top of the board. For me all I had to do was clean it off with a bit of alcohol on a swab and it works like brand new again, granted my mouse is only 2 years old and I was pretty annoyed when it started having issues this early...

I would recommend ordering new feet for the mouse (they cost around $2 on aliexpress) and no heat gun was really necessary to remove them, just a plastic pick/spudger. If after cleaning the switch with a swab you see the button still doesn't function properly or if you find that the switch is completely broken I would recommend just looking for an entire new board, from what I saw you canstill find them for about ~25% of the price of a brand new mouse (but don't quote me) so still worth it if you ask me.

The disassembly guide is pretty good but the only things I would do is add a guide specifically for fixing the middle mouse button as at least for me it's a very common issue with logitech mice (this is my third logitech mouse displaying this behavior) and also i would remove the part about needing a heat gun and highly recommend people buy new feet for the mouse, trying to peel off the old ones perfectly so you can reuse them (or glue them back on) is insanity, just spend the $2 on new feet.

When the same thing happened to me, I just went into GHUB and then changed the mapping of my buttons, removing middle mouse click from the scroll wheel and then setting the button behind the wheel toggle switch (the one that's normally mapped to be the onboard profile switcher, the I lock my key assignments so that it will remain the same for all of my games and applications

I had a similar issue with my mouse when it suddenly stop working. In my case it was not due to any hardware issue but moisture and dirt. Blow through strong air using any air pressure pump or vacuum cleaner if it have such feature for a few minute and it will most likely be solved. If not you might need to disassemble it and clean inside out.
