Why does my GameCube freeze on the homepage?

I’ve had my GameCube for a long time. Used it in the past and it worked perfectly fine. Just recently tried to play it again after half a year of not using it and it will freeze in the preview of every game and there is a sustained beep. It will also freeze if I press a button on the controller with the same continuous beep. If there is no game and no memory card or controller plugged in. It will display the main menu and then once I plug in a controller and press a button it’ll freeze again. I had taken it apart and cleaned all the dust out incase it was over heating with no difference. Any information on what the issue could be is much appreciated. Thank you
