CANNOT find the A2159 Touch Bar. Venders list wrong or no PN PLS Help

As you probably know, vendors don’t always check compatibility, but, rather assume it.


Presently there are 2 eBay vendors with “A2159 LED Touch Bar” for sale but — the part number is the same as the 2016-2018 model … and it’s not compatible. Unfortunately, the tech who took it apart for me to do the replacement was kind enough to throw the original away without looking at it.

Those who do say they have the A2159 (EMC 3301) Touch Bar I need charge substantially more but either show the wrong pat number … NO Part Number.

And!! Their pictures are no better.

I have spent 3 hours trawling google images looking for ANY high res image I can see to get the PN off or a physical design feature obvious enough to allow me to positively ID it.

Granted, they CHARGE 5x as much — but like I said … that’s even true of those venders showing the absolute wrong PN and — the image I know corresponds to the A 1706 Touch Bar.

Please …. Any help would be great.

If you KNOW a link that’s the right PN ..? GREAT!
If you know the part number..? GREAT.
If you have a touch bar for sale..? GREAT.

But this has turned in to a colossal waste of time — ordering multiple parts and on and on — waiting for slow shippers, etc.

Even if that’s just to report [knowledge] that they’ve not been manufactured at all yet … so there are none; just complete top cases. (though I don’t think that’s the case — why would it be for this but no other ..? Including newer models) …? But the truth’s the truth.

Sadly, between Apples aggressiveness locking down their parts suppliers and COVID you won’t find the TouchBar as a separate part any more. The uppercase shell part assembly is all you’ll find which has the keyboard & trackpad.

Now the fun part! Which keyboard do you have? As an example:

  • 13” MacBook Pro Upper Case Assembly - Space Grey (2TB 19) , Apple P/N 661-12993
  • 13” MacBook Pro Upper Case Assembly - Silver (2TB 19) , Apple P/N 661-12994

Where x661-12993 is the keyboard type (US doesn’t have a value for x) As an example B661-12993 is the British ISO layout version.

Now the real fun! Finding the part is tough and not cheap! Here’s one source which recycles systems as you can see they are out of stock and only have the British ISO layout version listed. They do carry the US versions, just not the 2019 yet. Even still I would call them to see as it does take awhile for them to post the parts TheBookYard - UK

Right ... 661 are replacements and the 922 were the purchase channel if I recall.

Okay -- so the only way is to get a complete top case; no one's selling the touch bar yet ..? :'( BRUTAL!! But, really, and, why I kinda prefer it that way.
