Bios periodically missing boot devices

I was having an issue with my computer not starting properly, so I did a bios update, and that fixed everything. The issue now is every so often, about once in 2-3 boots, all my boot devices will be missing and in the bios, it tells me to go to advanced > boot > csm to make sure the proper devices are enabled. THing is no change in the settings fixes it. Usually, a restart fixes things but after doing an online exam yesterday, I’m starting to get paranoid that my motherboard may be failing. I have 3 drives, 2 SSD, and one hard drive and none of them show up when this happens.

Specs:

Asus P8Z77-V PRO

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz

16gb ram

760w Seasonic x series

Hi,

Turn off the desktop and then remove the RTC battery (aka CMOS battery) on the motherboard and check its voltage. (see motherboard layout Sect.2.2.1 for location of coin cell battery)

Note the orientation of the battery before removing it. Usually it is +ve on top as marked on the battery.

If it is <2.5VDC replace it. The battery type is printed on the battery itself e.g. CR2032. These batteries are a non rechargeable Lithium battery and usually last about 5 years.

This battery maintains the BIOS settings when the PC is turned off and when the battery voltage starts to get low the BIOS can become corrupted which can cause all sorts of different problems when first starting the desktop.

You may get an error message stating that the date and time are incorrect when starting the desktop after doing this as the BIOS has been reset back to its default values. Once the D&T have been adjusted it won’t appear the next time the PC is started. Also any user defined BIOS settings that have been changed by you to suit your particular circumstances will need to be altered back to what you want.

Unfortunately it's not my cmos, I just replaced it and there is no fix after I refresh my bios.

@SmogHouseTradingCo

Can you hear if the HDD "spins up" when the desktop is first turned on?

Just trying to determine if the drives are getting power on not, i.e. no power - no communication with the BIOS

You won't hear it with an SSD (solid state) but you will with a HDD
