How to access the fan blades if one blade is broken off

i have a Frigoglass Retro 240 (FG RET240) cocacola display fridge. the previous owner broke fa blade off by not letting the fridge defrost completly. i can see the fan and the broken off blade but can’t get to it. the retro 290 has a pull out shelf that the cooling sytem is mounted to. the 240 looks like it is constructed the same but the shelf WON’T BUDGE! Can anyone help advise please?

This is how to add pics to the question after the fact

Hey T Ryan, did you ever work it out? I have exactly the same issue. I have removed the two vertical bolts at front. I can see the tray slides out the back, but it won't budge.

Based on what I can see the entire refrigeration system is mounted on a skid in the bottom of the unit, like you said. Looks like there's a front cover you'll have to remove, looks like there are some screws that will hold it on. Then you'll have access to the front of the skid most refrigeration units I've worked on have 2 or 3 bolts holding the skid in place. Check the front for these bolts. They'll go down or sideways through the metal plating, bolting it in. If you can access the back there may be some there as well. Unlikely, but possible. Can you post some pics of everything so I can help you better?

Hi,

To add to the answer here's the parts list with diagrams that may also help.

Not sure which fan you meant but here's some info that may help:

The evap fan (supplier example only) p.6 Item #13 part #70K8563

The condenser fan blade Item #2 p.6, part #9940020010 only shows this supplier but when I checked their site was down.

@jayeff yeah I was using that diagram. But it doesn't show the bolts that hold the skid in. Sounds like previous owner let the fan blades break off on ice build up. So yeah item 13 is the culprit. I can't find any actual pics of the skid. Hopefully these answers help, or they can post some pics

@brandon_k

Looking at the diagram I'm wondering if the cover (Item #3) is removed and then it will pull out.

There seems to be a slot (handle?) halfway along the one side (presumably another one on the other side) to enable it to be carried.

Here's an image of what the skid looks like.

Wonder if it hooks into the chassis with the slot(s?) at the base of the skid at the back (left side in image) so it won't pull forward unless released there perhaps

von

@jayeff based off the shape of those notches it looks like it might hook in somehow. Ot an ideal angle, but that might be the case here. Wrong shape for a bolt, so unless there's a bolt hole where we can't see it... we might have a winner
