Transparent rear panel, will it effect the camera?

I am interested in buying the new transparent back panel kit for iPhone 4s.

However i've read that changing the back panel will effect camera performance. For the ones more familiar with the iPhone's history will know that this was the reason the white iPhone got delayed, so i find it hard to believe a transparent panel will not affect the camera.

I want to have this panel (great work iFixit), but camera performance is more important to me.

I've found another back panel mod on the web and i am wondering what your opinion is on their statement that this mod will not affect camera performance. Personally i find this statement hard to believe.

In short: will a clear back panel affect camera performance?

I just converted my iphone yesterday with a transparent front and back. The first thing i noticed was the picture quality of the camera. the performance isn't hindered in any way, but because of the transparent plastic, the pictures are just a tad bit fuzzier than normal. it's hardly noticeable, though, unless you're looking for a difference. overall, i really like how my phone looks and the picture quality doesn't bother me at all. like i said, barely noticeable. also, the flash works fine as well.

It appears that the protective backing on the transparent back panel does not remove completely and a small piece of it remains over the lens that has to be removed separately once you have removed the protective backing. Image quality will improve significantly once you have removed this piece.
