mobile network connection disconnects as though I had taken the SIM ou

Just got my Pixel yesterday, and I'm having a problem I can't seem to solve. Every 5 minutes or so, the mobile network connection disconnects as though I had taken the SIM out. Then it reconnects again immediately. It causes messenger to fail to send SMS messages, and causes chrome to stop loading pages if that's what it was doing. Everything goes back to normal as soon as it reconnects.

I tried rebooting, I tried removing and reinserting the SIM, but no dice. I'm with PC Mobile in Canada, which uses the Talus network.

Any ideas?

Do you get a "No SIM card" message when this happens or is it just that you lose the signal?

If you do get a message try to reset the network settings and then restart the phone and check if that works. Go to Settings > System > Advanced > Reset Options > Reset network settings.

Can you try another known working, network compatible, type compatible SIM card i.e. nano or micro, in the phone and check if it works OK?

What is the model number of the phone?
