Hyundai Sonata AM radio not working
All I get is static.

Hi @nytryder26,
It looks like the AM/FM radio antenna is in the rear quarter window or rear window (not sure which) and the roof shark fin antenna is for GPS and SDARS reception .
Here’s an image from the 2013 service manual showing the component layout for the AVN unit which shows the two antenna units i.e. the shark fin antenna and the radio antenna (Item #10)

Here’s the procedure from the service manual how to check the AM/FM antennas
(hover cursor over image and click on magnifying icon in image. when image loads click on it again to magnify further)

Yes just AM is all static

Do you have another AM radio, car or home or portable, you can check to ensure that an AM is receiving in your area. AM has good properties of distance, but it can be VERY subject to static. Crossing railroad tracks and high voltage power lines can wipe out the signal.
