Do you have any more information, does it give an error when this happens? Or something else that seems like it isn't as it should be? If so, please add that information to make it possible to help you further.

There is already an answer to the issue here: Whirlpool Dishwasher stops after filling with water

You can also check the wash motor for the continuity, this is how to check it:

Disconnect all power to the dishwasher by flipping the appropriate circuit breaker

Locate the motor which should be behind the lower kick plate or access panel

This panel will be secured by either two or four screws, remove all of them so the panel comes all the way off

On some dishwasher models, you must open the door to remove some screws. Just be sure to close the door before removing the panel

Disconnect the two wire leads from the wiring harness that are attached to the motor

Using a multimeter, set the device to R x 1.

Touch each of the multimeter’s probes to one terminal each

The motor should show very little resistance, such as a reading of zero or close to it

Also check the ground connection by placing one probe on the bare metal housing of the motor, and the other on each terminal (one at a time)

This test should show no reading on the meter

If either of these tests shows readings other than what they should, then the motor is bad and needs to be replaced.
