Hi Just unpacked our new breville barista pro, have followed all of the instructions and try to froth milk, however no steam comes from the milk frothing wand but comes up through the drip tray..is very strange. Nozzle doesnt seem blocked, plenty of water in the machine...any ideas?

This happens when the steamwand is somehow blocked. The machine has an internal pressure relief valve that redirects the steam into the driptray. I'd start by detaching the nozzle and cleaning it out with a combination of descaler and hot water, let it sit in that solution for an hour. In my case, there was a bunch of particles in there that was reducing flow, even though none of the holes where blocked.
If this doesn't work, the problem may be deeper in the steam wand. Try running it without the nozzle on and see if the steam flow is still restricted.

I'd double check the manual to rule out operator error and then give them a call, don't attempt any repair while is is still under warranty, I'd definitely advise returning it instead of using it as is.
