Hi,
has anyone experience with the removal and installation of the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS graphic card in the 24" iMac? I would like to replace mine and haven't yet found an appropriate repair guide.

Follow the guide for the 20 inch EMC 2133 and 2210. The differences between the 20 and 24 inch models are negligible. I replaced the graphics card (3 times!). After initial failure, the apple supplied replacement failed just inside the 90 day warranty period, the replacement for that was DOA, the third one is working OK. None of the replacements were new items, and the 90 day warranty for a $250+ item is a joke.

How were you able to buy this from Apple?
I bought it through an apple repair centre. They did the first exchange and got to the point that after the DOA replacement, they were prepared to let me do the last replacement. I do PC repairs and had already replaced the PSU in the iMac and the mainboard in another.
One problem with dismantling the iMac so many times is the threads for the screen mounting screws are in plastic, and they start to strip.

What are the last 3 characters of your serial number?

@ABCellars the model number is MB398LL/A. It's an Early 2008 iMac 24", 3.06 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS.
