Devices won't turn on unless plugged in.
Hi, I work in a school district that uses ASUS C203X-YS02-GR chromebooks (this model wasn't an option for this question). A substantial number of these models will not turn on normally. You have to plug in the chargers for them to boot, and when it does, the battery is almost always full. Any ideas on how to resolve this? It's inconvenient for our students.

ASUS Chromebooks seem to randomly go into a mode called "shipping" mode. This Mode is a design feature that prevents the depletion of the battery during shipping and is normally manually set using a command key combination. The school district that I work in has had this same problem on some of our devices that go into the shipping mode without any user initiation. We do not know how the devices go into shipping mode without express intent to put it in that mode, nonetheless, we have a number of devices that seem to randomly enter this state. The only means of getting the devices to power up when in this mode is to plug the device into a charger until the boot screen appears. The device will then function normally for some multiple reboots until it randomly enters the shipping mode again. ASUS has been informed of this but, so far, has offered no resolution to the issue.
