Snapped off a piece of motherboard, now the speaker isnt working

So this is a humongous yikes on my part.

I was repairing a pixel 5 and a slight corner of the motherboard snapped off. I know, I'm a silly goose. It's a small corner but nonetheless the bottom speaker has stopped working (the top speaker still works). The contact pads that connect the speaker to the motherboard are in an entirely different place than the piece that snapped off.

Attached are some pics of the motherboard, the case and the "incident". It snapped off and ive attached it with some superglue as some sort of a hail mary, but this didnt work. Does anybody have any idea on how to fix it without resorting to microsoldering by an expert? The green boxes represent the speaker contact points on both the motherboard and the speaker unit, the red boxes represent the single contact point on the snapped off piece that connects to a contact point in the case (maybe a microphone)

Hi Gaul,

Generally there are several grounding points in any given phone, so not having the grounding on either that spring contact or the screw hole shouldn't keep your phone from working; it may allow some interference, though, but no telling how much.

The fix for that is to follow that circuit board trace for the ground clip and around the screw hole and find an exposed component connected to that same trace. Then you'll take a thin, say 22 AWG, wire and solder in a connection between that point and the other parts that you want to connect to. I'm not 100% sure, but it looks like there's a component on the left side of the picture that may connect to that same circuit trace; you'll need to verify.

However, I don't believe that will fix your problem. The issue with the speaker almost certainly is being caused by the two or three components on the wrong side of the break. In order to fix that, you would need to find out where the broken connections go to (I'd say there are anywhere between three and five connections that would need to be repaired) and run those same kind of jumper wires to bridge the crack in the board. This would take some fairly serious soldering skills and may require the use of a microscope and/or a set of schematics for your phone.

So I'm afraid the bad news is you're probably going to have to take the phone to someone who can do that sort of repair; the other choice is to resign yourself to living without the lower speaker.

As @dadibrokeit says, your problem is with the components the wrong side of the break. You’ll need a microscope, microsoldering skills and a steady hand. IF it’s salvageable. A shop might charge a pretty penny for this sort of work. Unfortunately you might have to live without the speaker, that or find a spares or repairs with a working board and swap them over.
