Foam pad on the logic board next to battery indicator connector?

Accidentally got some 91% iso on the foam pad in the picture and it started deteriorating. What is the pad there for? Do I need to replace it?

Pretty sure that it is just to help apply pressure so the connection doesn’t come unplugged if dropped. It is not necessary and will work fine without the foam pad.
