lcd screen message - ‘aligning cartridges please wait’

The LCD screen is locked up with the message ‘Aligning cartridges please wait’.

Have tried the HP recommended solution of the hard reboot and removing the battery a number of times but no change.

Also tried cleaning the contacts on the printer cartridges and printer head.

I can air print from an iPad or MAC and the quality is very good so there are no alignment issues. The print test page is also perfect.

There is a scanner failure message on the HP Smart app but cannot see how they would be related. If I try to scan from the app, I get a scanner is busy message.

I will replace the scanner bed when I can source a cheap replacement.

Hope someone has a solution to this problem.
