Why does my screen turn off after I take my phone from the charger?

I recently dropped my phone and 1. There is a white bar at the bottom of the screen (I know this is a problem with the LCD and that i have to replace the screen) 2. That my screen turns off after i take it from the charger. Could i maybe temporarily fix that until i can get a new phone?
