Thumping sound during wash cycle
A relatively new GE Profile dishwasher has begun making a thump, thump, thump sound during the wash cycle. Appears to come from right side of the diswasher.

You said that the spray arms turned when manually operated but check if they have moved during the wash cycle.
Place the arms in a remembered position i.e. front to back or side to side and then turn on the machine. Allow it to start washing and then open the door to stop the machine and check if they've moved from the remembered position or not. Be careful when opening the door that you don't get wet.
If they have moved it still could could be either a faulty lower spray arm, (GE p/n WD22X33499 - does it feel wobbly?) or perhaps the bearing (GE p/n WD02X10169) on the middle arm has worn.
If either is the problem search online for the part number only to find suppliers that suit you best.

What is the model number of the dishwasher?
Have you checked that the spray arms aren't hitting something loaded into the dishwasher as they spin around?
Manually spin the arms before starting the dishwasher and check.

Model #PDT715SBN8TS. The arms are not hitting anything....I am being very careful when loading and be sure that nothing is hitting the arms or the sides of the machine. I used to put lots of plastic lids in and thought that could be the problem. But it wasn't, as the last time I ran the dishwasher there were regular glasses on top, plates and bowls on bottom rack. Silverware in as normal.
