My iPad has not charged or booted up in over a year. No apple logo,no response to charging, nothing. I don't know if it is obsolete and therefore doesn't work permanently or if there is a fix? Also when it did work the apps one by one stopped working. Let me know your thoughts.

Hi,
That’s a long time for the battery to be sitting flat.
The first thing I would recommend you do is check the charging port on the iPad to see if there is any dirt/fluff or anything else that may be interfering with the lighting connector.
If it’s dirty or fouled up in some way lol up how to clean lightning port on YouTube and clean the port.
Next check that your lightning cable & wall plug actually work on another device.
Now that you have completed the steps above, plug cable into port and wait, because a dead flat battery will take a long time to register and show the red battery charging on the screen.
if you have no sign of life after an hour then it is possible that the battery is unable to take and hold enough charge to start the screen. So you will need to look at replacing the battery.
It could end up being uneconomical, (mainly because there’s no guarantee that the new battery will fix the problem), but it’s the only way to verify if the iPad still works or not.
