@friedrichbe1141 post some good pictures of both sides of the circuit board. That way we can hopefully help to identify which part maybe causing the issue. Also, let us know what you have already checked so that we do not repeat to many steps.
My number one subject would be the potentiometer. Use a multimeter and check that first. Now, I am making the assumption you have a multimeter and know how to check it, If you don't let us know so we can try and assist you with that as well

@berghuber could just be a light reflecting of the board but can you verify if there is anything odd looking. It's difficult to make pout with my old eyes :-)
