iPhone se 2, just put in a new battery and it won't turn on or charge

i figure i need a new phone but id just like to be certain before i go and spend those hundreds of dollars. i bought an ifixit iphone battery kit and installed the new battery.

  • i drained the old battery to below 25% before i started this
  • i had some trouble removing the old battery and tried to forcefully lever it out (didnt see the instructions warning me to not do exactly that)
  • im worried i might have damaged the battery connector. i probably smushed it too hard when i was trying to reconnect it, it wouldnt click and stay in place. im still not sure if its actually connected properly, if it doesnt plug into its own connector then i dont know what to do?

  • ive tried hard resetting the phone but i think it needs to be actually on for that to work

now the phone wont turn on because of a dead battery but it wont charge either. when i plug it in and try to turn it on it shows me the empty battery logo as if its charging. but i had it plugged in for the afternoon + all night and its definitely not charging

First things first, do you have the right battery? Can you confirm the exact model number of your phone for us? SE 2 isn't really a model, although SE 2020 would be a number we could use if that's your phone.

A link to the product page of the battery you bought would let us confirm you've got the right one once we know exactly which phone you have.

@dadibrokeit phone model number is A2296, im pretty sure thats 2020. this is what i bought iPhone SE 2020 Battery
