I am working on an application that would involve me needing to extend the power button as the Mac Mini would be unreachable. Can you help me identify the power button clip and a potential way to extend the cable further?

Depending on what your application is, I’m assuming it’s to restart as the process hung. If that’s the case then just leverage the AC power cord by placing a line switch within its path, as an example a power strip. If the application is just doing a presentation type of loop that would work. You could also setup a watchdog process from another system to manage the power strip if it has a remote control option.

@matthewtietje if by power button clip you are referring to the connector, we don't have that information just yet. Just like all of those connectors you can most likely remove it from the actual cable. We would need to see a close up of that connector to determine how to take it off. After that its straightforward, just extend the wires but either or using a cable connector to connect a longer cable (however long you need). Then connect a SPST normally open pushbutton switch to the terminals of the extension.

Thanks. You can see the cable being unclipped in the teardown. Hopefully someone will identify it in the near future!!

Has anyone found what connector is used? If we knew what connector was used (and could get a couple) It would be easy to wire an extension and move the power button wherever.
