Ice Maker is Not Working and Will Not Chime When Reset

Our ice maker has been having issues since we bought the house a year and half ago. Now it stopped making ice and I tried to defrost the ice maker last night that had ice build up and then reset it. It chimed last night and sounded like it was running. Went to bed and woke up to no ice and now the chime doesn’t happen when I hit the reset button. We unplugged it for 5 mins and plugged it back in and still nothing. Read online it may be we hit the reset button too many times and it broke. Is there a way to figure out if that is the case? And what can be done besides replacing the whole ice maker??

Here's the service manual for the refrigerator that may help.

Go to p.53 (p.54 of 105 pdf) and run the Self-diagnostic function during normal operation procedure as described by the manual and check if any error codes are being displayed.

The error code meaning, possible causes and checks are listed on the following pages.

Also on p.89 (p.90 of 105 pdf) there's the If Cubed or Crushed Ice is not supplied troubleshooting flowchart as well.
