Digital piano used with wrong voltage. Fixable?

Hi - I have a Yamaha P45 digital piano, which I bought in Canada. I have now moved to Europe. I plugged it in here after mistakenly believing it to be dual voltage. It’s not, and it tripped my electric. Is it irreparably damaged, or would it likely work with a new fuse and a voltage transformer? Thanks.

Hi @sam21902

I assume you meant that you thought it has a dual voltage input power adapter or at least it specified 100-240V AC input on the power adapter case?

The piano requires 12V DC to operate so if the power adapter didn't specify that it had an AC voltage input rating of 230V but only shows 120V, then perhaps only the original power adapter was damaged.

Have you tried using a different known working, compatible 230VAC input to 12V DC output, plug in power adapter with the piano?

Here's an image from the service manual for a Yamaha P45B model showing the power input circuit, that may help. (it should be close enough).

Go to p.61 (of 109 pdf) to view the troubleshooting steps for a no power problem if a replacement adapter doesn't work.
