Just got this like 3 weeks ago.

So I just got this TV like Three weeks ago and last Sunday I go to turn it on and it won't power on with the remote or on the front panel, I have had it on since i acquired it but Sunday nothing, So since I cant figure out how to add a back picture of the manufacturer label the model number is P52921 and the chassis number is PTK195MB. Any advice and help with her much appreciated!

Update (02/12/25)

Yes that is correct there is no LED on the front panel and no lights whatsoever, shoot I can't even find the Remote sensor on the front of it, when I first got it the remote buttons would stick or hard to press and I cleaned it up and like one time got the TV to turn on with the remote!

The guy I got it from said it was the original remote, I went through the menus briefly when I did get it to turn on and under the parental controls you can lock the front panel however I could swear that it was off but I'm not a100% sure that while trying to get the remote to work I mistakenly enabled that lock.

@kevinjacques just to clarify. The TV does not turn on. You do not have any LED or other lights turning on. There is no sign of life from the TV. Is that correct?

@kevinjacques most common issue with the rear projection TV would be bad fuses as well as leaking electrolytic capacitors. IF you can get the back off your TV, post some good pictures of the chassis and let's see what you got going on there.

Well I got pictures but for some reason it won't let me upload them from the media Manager, I don't have a PC, just my phone.

@kevinjacques just a preliminary quick look and it appears that there is some residue (Blue arrows) of something on your board. Could be a leaking capacitor. Teh capacitor itself (red Arrow) looks like it has a domed top. That would mean it is/has failing/failed. It could just be the angle of the image but have a closer look at that. Please remember that you are dealing with a rear projection TV that is essentially a CRT. those pack some high voltages and you always want to make sure that you discharge the capacitors before you touch the contacts etc.

I also noticed a degrading of the rubber boot on what appears to be the flyback transformer (Yellow arrow). Could just be aging of the rubber but could also be something more sinister. That should not be a cause for your TV not to show any sign of life. Just something to think of later. For now focus on the power board. That is the board where the power cord connects too. We may need some more images of that once you check the things I've pointed out.

Ok thanks I will check that out in the next few days, so if that capacitor isn't domed and it's just the picture angle can I check that with a multimeter, and also do I discharge it before pulling it off the board or after and what's the proper procedure for that you would recommend?

von

@kevinjacques you would need either a capacitance tester (remove capacitor from the board) or an ESR tester (keep capacitor installed) Something like this will work.

So I finally had time to check that out and those were bugs I think box elder type In there, I vacuumed them out and the cap is flat on top also I did order a new remote for it the original just didn't seem to work well anymore I'll keep you posted!

von

@kevinjacques sounds good! Just check the boards for any residue from potential capacitors leaking. They are almost years old so they may need to be replaced eventually.

von

Sorry to bother you but do you have any idea where the remote sensor is on this I can't find anything in the manual or online?
