With that said, iFixit doesn't yet have specific guide for the LCD replacement, which I am certain is the issue with your camera, based on what you have told us. Sometimes it is the backlight that has failed, sometimes it is the actual LCD. Turn your camera on and then in a darkened room use a flashlight and shine the beam at an angle against the screen. See if you can make out you menu etc. If you do, then it is your backlight that has failed. If you do not see anything it is most likely your LCD. To replace the actual LCD use something like this video and combine that with this guide https://de.ifixit.com/Anleitung/Nikon+D3.... Yes, it is a slightly different camera but the steps are pretty much identical. The only thing that might be different are some of the i the screw locations as well as the flex cables. Juist take your time and be organized when you work on this so you do not get ahead of yourself. It is really not that complicated. Replacement LCDs are readily available at places like this and many others. This is an example only and not an endorsement. The cost for the screen will only be a fraction of what the repair shops will charge you.

Now , if and only if a new LCD should not work either, then the issue could be related to the connector or circuit boards, which is unlikely since your camera still works. Let us know what you find out.
