MacBook Pro wont charge after battery replacement

I finally changed my macbook pro's battery with an ifixit replacement after mine had the "service" warning showing for a while. I did the install and the calibration. But noticed it kept switching from charging to plugged in but not charging. I reset the SMC and it kept doing it. I dig diagnostic and shows normal. I went in and unplugged the battery, held down the power and turned it on with only power from the power supply connected, turned off, plugge dbattery again and turned on. It works for a bit but will eventually go back to plugged in but not charging. Not sure what to do as this was not an issue with the original battery, even tho it lost charge quickly.
