I recently replaced the laser on my disk drive and when testing I put a disk in and it made a lot of loud noises and the disk wouldn’t go all the way in. I don’t know what to do at this point and I would really appreciate the help

Hi!
There is something wrong with the mechanism of the disc drive!
Could be caused by the top part that takes disc’s in.
Is it possible to share some pictures with us regarding inside the disc drive?
Replacing the disc drive should solve it, but is more expensive.

The mechanism looks fine in the photo’s. You can replace only the top mechanism and see how that goes. Most easy way to test, is with another drive and see how that goes.
How would I get the top mechanism?
In your second photo, you see a black screw in every connor (4 in total). Take them out and you will can get the top cover off! Hopefully you can find the part online! Those are not easy to find..
