iFixit LCD Vs. eBay LCD (iPhone 4s)

What's the difference between the two? The price from iFixit's site is roughly $129.00 and I see many on eBay for for $30 Free Shipping brand new from U.S.

Most likely warranty.

However you may notice slight differences, I bought a replacement LCD on amazon 30$, and found the materials they used for coloring was not what came on a default iphone, and it actually affected reception of cell signal.

This was because I didn't get a standard white or black one however. If you stick with standard colors, you really shouldnt have a problem.

If you assemble your screen incorrectly, it can cause you to have bad reception.

Quality, warranty, and tech support. Do you get a 6 month warranty from the Ebay seller? Also, there are plenty of things "from the US" that are from Chinese companies who keep a warehouse in NJ or something in order to tell people on Ebay that they ship from the US.

This has been changed to an insane lifetime warranty. Absolutely unheard of in electronics. Maybe on a Craftsman crowbar, but electronics?

I know the $25-$30 ones from ebay and tmart.com has a lot of quality problems. Out of the 4 I tried (2 from ebay sellers, 2 from tmart), the 2 from ebay failed within a day or two. One of them has a poorly manufactured connector.

The 2 from tmart.com has very poor viewing angles. Color would become psychedelic with a slight tilt.

I didn't have problem with a $20 new iPhone 4 LCD from ebay seller 2 years ago. But this recent purchase of $25 iPhone 4S LCDs showed a lot of problems.

Certainly, the appearance of the quality seems high with the naked eye. But I could see the subtle defects in the LCD connectors under the magnifying glass that would not provide a proper contact. The LCD viewing angle problems is likely in the materials and/or assembly of the LCD itself.

Anyhow, low priced aftermarkets seems to be hit and miss depending on the materials and manufacturing quality of the particular batch.

I use replacements from sunsky-online.com I have never had an issue and they are $30. Heck if they dont work you could buy 4 screens for ifixit price

$129 for a iPhone 4 screen is mental I can get iphone 4 screens with genuine lcd from my supplier for £22 and warrenty

I have replaced many iPhone 4s screens and they are tedious to remove and replace. I have bought inexpensive screens off of Amazon and had them crack or just simply stop working within 1 month. If I am going to DIY phone repair for my kids phones to save money, I have have to take into account the value of my time.

Even if a screen costs twice as much or more in iFixit, my experience is that it will be a high quality screen and I will only have to replace it once. They are better quality and much more durable. I won't buy screens from anywhere else now.
